St. Louis classical calendar for the week of August 4, 2014

The Compton Heights Concert Band presents free Musical Mondays concert featuring marches, show tunes and classical favorites on Monday, August 4, at 7:30 PM. The concert takes place in Tower Grove Park at the historic Henry Shaw Bandstand. For more information: chband.org

The Tavern of Fine Arts presents a flute recital by Rachel Petzoldt on Thursday, August 7, at 5:30 p.m. "Rachel Petzoldt leads a talented group of musicians in an early evening concert of chamber music by Mozart, Bach, Boehm, and Enesco. Jay Chacon
The Tavern of Fine Arts presents Jay Chacon, baritone, with Jon Garrett, piano on Friday, August 8, at 8 PM. "Jay and Jon are at it again, presenting a program of Hispanic music from both sides of the Atlantic. Featuring de Falla's "Siete Canciones Populares," they will also be performing classical Mexican songs by Ponce, some zarzuela by Torroba, a few traditional Mexican songs like Besame Mucho and De Colores, and top it off with a little Gloria Estefan. Who knows, maybe there will be a little dancing involved! Come enjoy an evening of fun music, great food and drinks, and an all around good time, the Hispanic way."
