The Friends of Scott Joplin presents a ragtime piano concert by Terry Parrish on Saturday, August 15, at 6 p.m. "Acclaimed ragtime pianist Terry Parrish returns to St. Louis for a concert at the Scott Joplin House. He played here first back in the early '70s at the Goldenrod Showboat and later performed at the St. Louis Ragtime Festival with his band the Elite Syncopators. More recently, he was one of the performers at the Trebor Tichenor Memorial Concert held at the Sheldon Auditorium. Trebor, St. Louis' own ragtime scholar and pianist, had called him "an Indianapolis pianist of extraordinary talent." Another time, one of his fellow performers at a Savannah, GA, festival said that "no one there beat Terry Parrish for control, musicianship, and infectiousness." So come out to this concert and experience one of the finest current performers of ragtime piano, and a prominent collector of old piano rolls and ragtime sheet music as well." The concert takes place at the Rosebud Café in the Scott Jopin House, 2658 Delmar in midtown. For more information: friendsofscottjoplin.org
