Act Two Theatre presents Love Letters Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through August 11. “Two friends, rebellious Melissa Gardner and straight-arrow Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, have exchanged notes, cards, and letters with each other for over 50 years. From second grade, through summer vacations, to college, and well into adulthood, they have spent a lifetime discussing their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, and victories and defeats. But long after the letters are done, the real question remains: Have they made the right choices or is the love of their life only a letter away? Step into the captivating world of A.R. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolco Dreamcoat
Curtain’s Up Theater Company presents the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm through August 11th. "This beloved take on the classic biblical fable tells the story of Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob. Sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph's life takes an unexpected and traumatic turn. The Muny presents Waitress through August 5 at 8:15 pm.  “Waitress promises to be a sweet slice of Muny heaven! New Jewish Theatre presents Red Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 4 and 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through August 11. “Master abstract expressionist Mark Rothko has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art, a series of murals for New York’s famed Four Seasons Restaurant. In the two fascinating years that follow, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken, in his studio on the Bowery. But when Ken gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the agonizing possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing. St. Louis Shakespeare’s Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre presents The Return of the One-Hour Lord of the Rings Trilogy August 9 through 17. “Revisit the legend of Frodo, Gandalf, and the rest as they embark on their monumental quest, all while racing against the clock. Stray Dog Theatre presents the musical Ruthless Thursdays through Saturdays at 8, through August 24, with additional performances  at 2 pm on Sundays August 11 and 18. “Eight-year-old Tina Denmark knows she was born to play Pippi Longstocking, and she’ll do anything to win the part in her school musical. Her mother, fellow students, and the rest of the world had better watch out because nothing will stop her quest for stardom! Eubie!

The Black Rep presents the musical revue Eubie!  through May 21.  “Eubie! is a musical revue from the 1970s that taught Broadway audiences about Eubie Blake, a groundbreaking American musician and composer of the early 1900s. Blake helped break down racial barriers with his 1921 musical, Shuffle Along - the first Broadway musical written, directed by, and starring Black Americans. The Blue Strawberry presents Jim Caruso's Cast Party on the Road Wednesday and Thursday, May 17 and 18, at 7 pm. "Every Monday at New York's legendary Birdland, Jim Caruso hosts Cast Party, fusing Broadway glitz and sharp wit into what has become the worldwide gold standard of Open Mic nights. It is the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with show folk and the people who love them. Ali Stroker
The Cabaret Project and Jazz St. Louis present Ali Stroker Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30, May 17 and 18. ‘Ali Stroker won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as 'Ado Annie' in the Broadway revival of Oklahoma! She made history as the first actor in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway in Deaf West’s acclaimed 2015 revival of Spring Awakening. She starred in 12 episodes of The Glee Project, culminating in a guest role on Fox's Glee.  Her recent TV credits include:  CBS' Blue Bloods, Netflix’s Ozark, and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. She recently co-wrote a novel, The Chance to Fly, which was released by Abrams Books. She’s performed her cabaret act at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, New York’s Town Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall. Circus Harmony presents Swashbuckle! Saturdays at 3 and 7 pm and Sundays at 3 pm through June 3rd. “Circus Harm!ony is back with their annual, full length, ticketed show. This year, it is an epic adventure with somersaulting, sword fighting, and circus.  The show features all-new acts co-created with Circus Harmony’s sensational staff and talented students. The Kirkwood Theatre Guild presents the classic musical The Sound of Music through May 21. “This final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. Opera Theatre of St. Louis presents Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha opening on Saturday, May 20, at 7:30 pm and running through June 24. “Sometimes out of the deepest tragedy springs the greatest hope. Embark on a life-affirming journey of love and creativity in Scott Joplin’s opera Treemonisha, re-imagined with two new acts by composer Damien Sneed and librettist Karen Chilton. As Joplin celebrates his wedding to his new bride, Freddie Alexander, he is inspired to write a masterpiece — with Freddie as his muse. KTK Productions presents the musical Sister Act Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through May 21. “When lively lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier sees her mobster beau, Curtis, commit murder, she is relocated for her protection. Set up in the guise of a nun in a California convent, Deloris proceeds to upend the quiet lives of the resident sisters. The Midnight Company presents the one-actor show The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey by Celeste Lecesne through May 20. “Joe Hanrahan, Midnight’s Artistic Director, portrays a detective and other characters in a small New Jersey town as he unravels the story of THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY. Pelkey is a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant fourteen-year-old boy who has gone missing.  A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.  Alicen Moser directs. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents Rajiv Joseph’s Gruesome Playground Injuries through May 13. “Doug and Kayleen meet as eight-year-olds in the school infirmary. (He tried to ride his bike off the roof. The Alpha Players present J.B. Priestly’s An Inspector Calls February 24 – March 5. “It’s April 1912 at the home of the prosperous Birling family. Arthur Birling, his wife Sybil, their daughter Sheila and son Eric are in the drawing room just after dinner celebrating Sheila’s engagement to Gerald Croft, heir to a highly successful family business. Their cozy celebration is suddenly interrupted when the maid announces the unexpected arrival of Police Inspector Goole. The Inspector has come to the home as part of an inquiry into the death of a young woman. The St. Louis Actors’ Studio presents Chekov’s Uncle Vanya Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm, through March 5. “The visit of an elderly professor and his glamorous, much younger second wife, Yelena, to the rural estate that supports their urban lifestyle. Two friends—Vanya, brother of the professor's late first wife, who has long managed the estate, and Astrov, the local doctor—both fall under Yelena's spell, while bemoaning the ennui of their provincial existence. Sonya, the professor's daughter by his first wife, who has worked with Vanya to keep the estate going, suffers from her unrequited feelings for Astrov. Outside Mullingar

West End Players Guild presents John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar February 10-19. “It’s the story of the somewhat awkward romance of Anthony and Rosemary, two 40-ish adults who are the only children of two Irish families living on small adjacent farms outside Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland.  Both have spent their entire lives on the farm and have known each other as long as they can remember.  Both are painfully shy in affairs of the heart.  Each quietly yearns for the other, but neither can muster the courage to express those desires.  And so they live, side by side but apart, watching the years slip away, hoping something will happen – and, eventually, it does.  It’s a very Irish love story – not simply about the love between two people, but also about love of the Irish countryside.  It’s also one of the most delightful romantic comedies you’ll ever see.” West End Players Guild this season will employ touchless ticketing, socially-distanced seating and indoor masking of all patrons and front-of-house staff and volunteers. Winter Opera presents Verdi’s Macbeth Friday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm, November January 18 and 22. “Macbeth is an opera in four acts with an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and additions by Andrea Maffei, based on William Shakespeare’s play of the same name. Written for the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, it was Verdi’s tenth opera and premiered on 14 March 1847. Macbeth was the first Shakespeare play that Verdi adapted for the operatic stage. The Lemp Mansion Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre and Jest Mysteries present A Dickens of a Killilng through January 27th, 2023. Ebenezer Scrooge will be back to his old tricks and is bound to make a few enemies at this Christmas Party chock full of Charles Dicken's Characters. Just when Beep (The Minstrel) gets everyone in the Holiday Spirit, Scrooge barges in and starts talking about gruel. Geez, hope no one snuffs Scrooge out before he stops bellowing! Guests will dive into the fictious world of Charles Dickens and join Pip, Martha Cratchit, Oliver Twist, The Ghost of Jacob Marley, Tiny Tim and so many more in this cheerful murder mystery parody of a Holiday Classic. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents The Snowy Day: A Glowy Snowy Experience Friday through Monday starting at 5:00 pm, January 6 – 9. “Mark your calendar to join us for a new and expanded adventure of The Snowy Day: A Glowy Snowy Experience! Experience an outdoor, socially distant, drive-through spectacle filled with giant illuminated puppets, glow-in-the-dark scenery and a podcast that tells the story of Peter, a young boy, playing outside with his friends during the season’s first snow. This revolutionary family event is an adaptation of the beloved classic children’s book, The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and is in partnership with StoneLion Puppet Theatre.” The event takes place at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves presents the comedy/mystery The Gazebo Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm, January 6 - 15. “A writer of TV whodunits gets into a spot when his wife becomes the target of blackmail. The writer has to silence the so-and-so and find a place to hide the body. Having acquired at auction a gazebo for their suburban backyard, the writer and his wife decide to plant the blackmailer in its fresh concrete foundation. But it isn't long before the body turns up again! Soon the house is crawling with detectives and district attorneys, all looking to point the finger somewhere, thus casting the writer in a role he never expected he'd have to play: the suspect.” Performances take place at the Guild theatre at 517 Theatre Lane, at the corner of Newport and Summit in Webster Groves.
